Hi! I’m Ali, an Oklahoma native currently based out of Vienna, Austria, but I’m planning a fair amount of traveling this year.

I hopped on my first plane at the age of three months and have been traveling ever since! As a child, my family and I would go on trips around the United States. National parks, historic sites, and Disneyland were most common spots. I spent my 16th birthday in London with my family, though I didn’t appreciate it much at the time; I thought my parents were ruining my life by forcing me to spend my birthday in there. If only 16-year-old me could see me now.

I studied abroad my junior year of college in Vienna, Austria- a city chosen based on my desire to learn German. Vienna was wonderful and I was ready to go back for more. After graduation, I landed a post as a U.S. Teaching Assistant and spent two-ish plus more years in Austria teaching English to high school students and working as an au pair.

After two years were up it was time to figure out what to do next. Not yet ready to go back to school, I opted to head for the home country of my college roommate-Vietnam. I taught English and volunteered at an anti-trafficking organization, the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation. They’re awesome, definitely check them out! I loved Vietnam, but eventually it was time for me to head back to school. I settled on going back to the U.S and wound up in Denver. Now that I’m finished with school, I’m doing some traveling before starting an official job sometime around the end of the year.

My life abroad was incredibly exciting and educational. I’ve had an original Bellini at Harry’s Bar in Venice, partied the night away at the Lifeball, which at one time was Europe’s largest charity event, gotten lost in Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar, hiked in  Austrian alps, dived in the Red Sea, opened a ball in Vienna, and visited Cairo and the pyramids of Giza, to name a few. I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my life and to what the next travel chapter looks like!  I want to use this website to share my adventures, frustrations and laughs with you and hopefully a few travel tips and recipes along the way.
